Hello Web3

I’m coming from the world of traditional cinema, educated in a film school with roots dating back to the 50s tho I was always flinching on the mention of tradition. I hate rules but understand that you have to know them inside out in order to break them properly and that’s why I decided to go with the old school route. Did I regret it? No. Film school provided me with a lot of knowledge and most importantly experience and networking but it was a struggle not to break under the pressure of “old masters who know the way”. Film schools turn students into zombies, Jodorowsky said. He was right and that transcends through the industry. Big guys like in any other profession don’t want you to upset their way of living and creating. Film industry is a big old system struggling to evolve and it requires something new, an outside help to restart it.

For the past 10 years I’ve been eating, breathing and sleeping cinema. At first the only thing I wanted is to make feature films but as I grew older, developed my craft and gathered knowledge I realized how short form is much more potent and prone to experiments. Feature film form almost completely lost any appeal to me. Short breaths, swift strokes, glimpses, hints, that’s what I want. To create authentic audio-visual experiences filled with meaning and emotion. I’ve been writing poetry since high school and I was always leaning to poetic works of art so I was impressed with non-narrative forms like video art, installations, conceptual art etc. That world is often exclusive and it’s hard to make a living with that craft. Specially in a post-socialist country that went trough a war in the 90s, economically limited and falling behind the rest of the western world in every sense. Being a full time artist outside of the mainstream always seemed like a luxury to me. Until now.

Discovering NFTs is one of the crucial moments in my life. I remember spending a whole night watching videos and reading articles trying to piece together everything. Charged with adrenaline, getting more and more hyped until sunrise when my head literally started to hurt and I couldn’t keep my eyes open anymore. The next morning I woke up in a different world. I saw a completely new future for video art, short and micro films, something I really wanted to do but the form was always limited in funding and distribution. Not only that, with Web3 and NFTs we are opening completely new paths to new art forms. There are so many options, experiments you can do with combining filmmaking and video art with blockchain and coding. That’s what excites me the most, the adventure of discovering, learning and evolving.

My goal is simple. After trading and learning about the market and the tech it’s time to start working on my ideas and start building. I want to analyze, explore and experiment with new art forms, languages and tools emerging with the NFT technology to contribute to the evolving space of fine art NFTs.
