Fighting Social Isolation In Brooklyn

One of the best reasons to live in Brooklyn is for our borough’s rock-solid sense of community. Not just the community of your neighborhood, but those hundreds of daily interactions that make living here worth it-the guy who knows your coffee order, the crossing guard at the school, the neighbor down the hall, the other parents on the playground. But COVID has made every one of these interactions more difficult and sometimes, more dangerous. If you’ve felt lonely, you’re far from alone.

Perhaps sensing this growing problem-particularly among older New Yorkers-The City Department for the Aging is working with various providers to offer programs that encourage meaningful connections to those in need of them.
