Knowing When to Move and When to Be Still

How do we get to where we want to go? Many of our most important journeys have no clear road maps. The destinations we seek aren’t concrete. Our ideas about what we want for ourselves can be little more than notions. It takes work to solidify our goals and devise plans to see them to fruition. Executing those plans can be challenging. Rushing in half-cocked leads to disaster more often than not, and the planning stage can easily devolve into rumination, procrastination, and stagnation. Even if you get over these humps, the work of trying to accomplish all you want for yourself can lead to exhaustion. It’s important to know when to rest, perhaps especially when things are going well for you. It’s not as easy as it seems to know when to move and when to be still.

The Chariot can be driven successfully only by the determined. Like every card in the tarot, The Chariot has a shadow side that warns about what happens when we are excessive. When determination transforms into stubbornness and rigidity, you can’t adapt and navigate around the obstacles you confront. Pushing ahead aggressively may cause your chariot to overturn or crash.
