Hate crimes against Asian Americans has escalated

There have been many incidents of hate crimes and racist rants against Asian Americans reported in the news since the COVID pandemic began. Life has become more challenging for people of Asian backgrounds as they are being blamed for bringing the coronavirus to the United States.

People may be able to step in or step up if they hear someone yelling a racist rant against someone because of COVID. It is important to make sure that the racist person will not perform a violent act upon the person trying to help.

If any danger is expected, it would be best to call the police if an incident of racism is encountered. It is not wise to put yourself in harm’s way when racist people are saying their hateful words or doing their racist deeds. They may turn violent.

Asian Americans should not have to endure the racism that is coming their way. Just as Black and Brown people should not have to experience racism, people of Asian heritage do not deserve that type of treatment.

Other people can help by stepping out of their comfort zone to assist when racism is occurring (as long as it’s safe to do so).
