The Struggling Entrepreneur

have you experienced your point of no return?

His writings on developing your future self are motivating and empowering.

I recommend following him and reading his work immediately.

That being said, I recently signed up for Bens‘ newsletter.

A few weeks or so later, Ben announced he had released his 30-day future self program for $147.

I wanted it. But was hesitant because of many reasons, I’m sure you can relate.

Luck shifted in my favor a few days later when Ben opened up the course for anyone to join, completely free.

The daily videos are only 10 minutes each and then he gives you journal prompts to write on afterward about the overarching topic of the day.

Envisioning your future self and outlining how you will get there is extremely empowering.

Day 7 of the course really hit me today when he began discussing the point of no return.

In the entrepreneurs' journey, or any journey involving reaching a massive goal, he explains that there is a point of no return.

This is the moment in your journey where your circumstances physically, or maybe even your threshold of knowledge is too great to go back to your old way of being.

The point of no return is usually demonstrated by taking a bold step into the risky and unknown.

It’s at this moment that you step into your future self.

I know exactly what he’s referring to, as I feel as I have had several points of no return.

Or have I?

I’ve personally invested a lot of time and money into my learning on e-commerce, specifically Amazon, and click funnels.

I have actually invested a lot of money that hasn’t given me a return yet.

An embarrassing amount.

I began investing money into my learning, and eventually my own custom physical product.

It was when I began doing this, that it seemed I had declared my entrepreneurial future.

After all, I am serious about creating an income online — but to tell you the truth, I don’t think I have completely passed my point of no return yet.

Why? Well, I haven’t created the home-based-income I desire yet.

I am working on several things outside of my regular “day job” that could be monetized eventually.

I’m just having fun with it, to be honest, and enjoying the journey and learning how the internet really works behind all of the marketing and hype.

But I’d be lying if I said I didn’t dream about quitting my job.

That is something I think about every day at this point — completely abandoning an income that requires me to be at a certain place at a certain time.

I’d also be abandoning the certain income needed to support myself.

This could be easy. I could quit my night job right now.

But that wouldn’t be wise…

I am a single person and have a mortgage, a daughter to support, and all of the other bills due each month, and then some.

About $3000 in reoccurring bills each month.

I know that’s not a ton of money, and actually I have a sense that once I get some traction going, replacing that will be easy.

But at this very moment, it is money needed every month, and you need to replace that with something else before quitting.

It just seems obvious.

I need about $3K per month to pay my bills and have some dollars leftover for a few leisure activities, but not much.

Maybe you need $7K per month.

Maybe you need $10K.

Everyone's goals will look and be different. How you go about achieving those goals in the wild west of the internet will be slightly different for everyone.

In order to create an income online (or anywhere) you have to provide something of perceived value to someone.

This could be a product to a certain market, words to a certain audience, motivational videos for people looking to be inspired.

You have to provide something to make money online. Digital products are something I have been more interested in. No physical product = a lot less stress if any at all. The user can instantly download said material without waiting or doing anything.

An entrepreneur has to be resourceful. We are constantly looking for the most efficient way to operate any given system. Whether it be capturing an email address, selling a product, or some other service or design.

If I am completely honest, I am slightly annoyed and embarrassed at my lack of progress online.

The problem is that the internet is a vast and expansive place, and it takes discipline in where you direct your energy and focus to succeed.

It all too easy to get distracted, or even worst, you start to see all of the potential opportunities, which is amazing, but then you become frazzled at which path to take.

To make things even worse again, sometimes something sounds good to the ear, but once put into action isn’t what we thought it would be.

This could be after dozens of hours have already been put in, or even thousands of dollars already invested.

On a brighter note, sometimes you will begin something and it will lead you to places you didn’t expect. I’ve found this to be the best part — becoming curious about something and venturing into it. Learning.

For me, this was writing. I never thought that I would enjoy writing as much as I do 6 months ago. This was all because I had the initial goal of reading more, which led me to medium, which led me to be inspired and motivated, which has actually led me to write almost daily and I have published 6 stories, and have been accepted into about 5 publications.

No big deal or anything. Anyone can do this, and the publications I am apart of are new-writer friendly it seems, or maybe my writing is better than I initially thought (unlikely).

Anyways, the journey of becoming what most would deem an entrepreneur is most definitely a journey. I have had little success so far, but I am close. I can feel it. Just have to keep hustlin’.
