Moving Forward

Happy Sunday!

When we started Minance, we dreamt of helping our Partners invest better. It was just me and two colleagues trying to make it work. From there on, thanks to you, we have grown to a team of 43 and are a much stronger and more focused company.

My previous company’s CEO would say “Dream bigger, there’s just less competition for bigger dreams”. He was Jeff Bezos. That’s what we are doing today. We’ve dreamt of becoming your financial services company of choice. We don’t aspire to be the Flipkart of investments or the Uber of financial services. We want to be a bespoke ecosystem focused singularly on whatever financial services you need. We want to be your trusted advisors, a partner throughout your investment journey.

In the next few months, we want to make diverse investment options available to you. Here’s what’s on our roadmap:

• Real Estate: You’ll be able to invest in commercial real estate properties for a fraction of the cost, less paperwork, and more liquidity

• Fixed Income: We will help you invest in a portfolio of bonds and debentures to earn more than fixed deposits and debt funds

• Credit Products: Very soon, you’ll have the opportunity to invest in lending products such as fractional P2P lending and settlement finance

• Structured Products: Market-linked, capital protected products that will generate an alpha over the index

• Global Equities: We’re close to designing a way for you to own the world. You’ll be able to invest all over the globe — from China to the US to every emerging market

• Global Startups: We’re working on a way for you to invest in the Airbnbs and Ubers of the world

• Retirement Products: Stable, tax-efficient, and easy to use products that are designed to cater to your retirement needs

And that’s just in the next year and a half.

We’ve had a great run with Angel Broking and appreciate all that they have helped us with, but at this juncture, we need a wealth management partner, not just a broking partner. To assist you in investing better and opening up multiple avenues, we need a strong firm that is equipped with better and more scalable technology, the understanding of how to apply that technology, the financial infrastructure, access to more data, and a customer-focused culture. More importantly, their ambition should match ours. After many weeks of courtship, we’ve found IIFL Securities to be the perfect fit and have already built a great relationship with their team.

There is no better time for this transition. Being the election month, market-wide volatility is generally very high and it’s prudent to exit derivative positions and short-term equity investments. Although it might cause you a little bit of inconvenience, I would like you to see this as an important step forward in our journey, rather than a road bump.

Our entire team is ready to help you during this phase. We’re going to work night and day to make sure that this transition is as smooth as possible. We are here for you. As always, feel free to reach out to your investment manager for anything you may need!

Got any questions, suggestions or feedback for me? Please drop me an email at anurag@minance.com

Sincerely,

Anurag Bhatia
CEO and Head of Investments
